A Word With Emmett
Its a day since the Canadian heartthrob left the House but Big Brother Mzansi had a chance to catch up with our foreign friend Emmett and get a couple of words on his brief but beautiful stay in the Big Brother Mzansi House.
This guy is full of surprises, other than giving the ladies some eye-candy on Big Brother, he is also an 8th generation Dairy farmer with a passion for tidal bore rafting who absolutely loves South Africa’s people, culture and diversity. He was also candid about the fact thatKat is one of the biggest players in the game and MK is as genuine as they come.
Let’s see what he had to say.
1. How did your perceptions or expectations change from before entering the House to now?
“In terms of the Housemates I didn’t research or watch any of them because I wanted to go in with a clear mind and judge everyone on their actions but in terms of the experience, my perception was altered in the fact that I did not think I would forge such strong connections with some of them (namely MK).”
2. Is coming to SA something you ever imagined Big Brother would do for you?
“When I was asked to come here, it was a one of those moments where I had to ask “Sorry, what did you say?” , I was in a state of utter disbelief.
This experience has been life changing for me, the people are absolutely amazing and I know that many people from Canada will be tuning in and watching Big Brother Mzansi from now on.”
3. What is the most valuable lesson you have learnt?
“Before this, the most I had ever seen of South Africa was on Discovery channel, so the I would have to say just coming here and learning so much about South African culture has been amazing.
The Housemates were really open and accommodating when it came to teaching me about everything from the food to all the languages.”
4. Who did you grow closest to in the House and why?
“Obviously the answer is MK because he is a genuine dude.
There is no other way to put it. He really does not have a mean bone in his body and while many of the Housemates are fighting and running around naked, MK knows that he has what it takes to win this thing without doing any of that.”
5. If you didn’t have a girlfriend, who would you like to get to know in the House?
“I would have to say Kat purely because I didn’t really get a chance to know here and from an outsiders point of view she is one of the biggest players in the House and for someone who is a Big Brother fan, that is an attractive quality.”
6. How does it feel to have Mzansi fans supporting and talking to you on social media?
“It is awesome, I really did not know what to expect coming here and getting out last night and seeing all the support was amazing.
I really love Twitter and now I feel like I will be able to take a piece of South Africa back home with me because I will still be able to connect.”
7. What can people expect from you in the future?
“Well I run two of my own businesses, ‘Shubi river wranglers’ which is my tidal bore rafting business and then I am the 8th generation to run our Dairy farm which started in 1784 so I am always working there and helping out.
In terms of media, I have not even been out of the Big Brother Canada House for a year yet and if you had asked me this question a year ago, I never would of thought I would have been on Big Brother, let alone in South Africa. Anything is possible. I like to think that the reason I got here is because of the way I played the game back home which goes to show if you stick to your guns, be true to who you are and try be a good person, then only good things will work their way into your life.”
8. Any closing comments you’d like to share?
“I would just like to say Thank you, to absolutely everyone, to the people who watched and supported me, to Big Brother Mzansi for bringing me out here and to all the people who have made this such a memorable experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have had such an incredible time here.”
