Big Brother Mzansi Winner  Mandla Hlatshwayo and his sweet heart Lexi van Niekerk are set to heat up the small screen this winter with the second season of their popular reality TV show.

Following the success of the first season of their spin-off, Mandla and Lexie will return on Mzansi Magic on Wednesday, 13th July at 8pm.
Van Niekerk points out that they have matured as a couple since the last time viewers saw them and the value of family is central to the second season.
“Season 2 is going to be very different. It’s all about family this time. Still about Mandla and Lexie, our relationship. Just showing viewers that we have grownup, we have matured and we are actually living the real life. We still go through sh*t like everyone else. I’m just hoping people will see that we have done a bit of growing up and we are more in love than ever,” Van Niekerk teases.
Before Hlatshwayo scooped the R1 million Big Brother Mzansi grand prize in 2014 the audience watched as he met and fell head-over-heel in love with Van Niekerk.
Hlatshwayo maintains that he wouldn’t change it for the world.
“It is a very public relationship. We met before the public’s eye and we did a lot of things publicly. That in itself was a blessing in disguise for us. It gave us an opportunity to be as honest as we can about each other,” Hlatshwayo declares.
“We were meant to meet the way we did. I wouldn’t wish to have it any other way. Otherwise I would have not fallen in love with this wonderful woman the way I did.”
Although she strongly insists that Big Brother opened a lot of doors for her, Van Niekerk emphasises that she wouldn’t advice any young person to go down the same path as her.
“I did Big Brother like two years ago and people feel like we know Lexi, but they don’t. People get to see a small part of your life and what you try to do in the house. I would advice for people to not do it and focus on your real life. Don’t get me wrong, Big Brother has opened a lot of doors for me, which I have taken a lot of opportunities from,” Van Niekerk cautions.
She reveals that the secret behind the success of their two-year-old relationship is that they are so different from one another.
“We are completely two different people. I’m more outspoken, loud and crazy. Mandla is more quiet, calm and faster than me. We are so opposite, that we understand and get each other,” Van Niekerk says.
“We are so open and honest about how we feel, what we do and what we want to achieve. I guess being from different upbringings and background just makes us stronger. We try to keep it spicy and fun at the same time.”
