- Day 2: A catch up on from today’s diary sessions – BBMzansi
The first diary sessions of the season delivered a blend of emotions, surprises, and lighthearted moments as the housemates shared their feelings and thoughts. Here are some key takeaways:
Mandy Hagan shared her mixed emotions, saying she felt both confident and excited to be part of the house. Reflecting on her nominations, she admitted feeling bad about nominating Philile, who she later found to be sweet, while she viewed Nsuku as a bit impolite. Mandy also confessed to feeling caught off guard by her own nomination but acknowledged, “it’s just part of the game.”
Kay B described her experience as a mix of joy and being overwhelmed by the house’s dynamics. She jokingly thanked Biggie for introducing “a tall, strong guy” and shared her thoughts on her developing connection with Savage, though she wasn’t entirely receptive to his attention. Her decision to nominate Nsuku stemmed from their unresolved disagreements, while she expressed admiration for Sipha Lee’s lively personality.
Sweet Guluva, the current Head of House, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be in the house and the advantages that come with his position. However, he admitted that handling different personalities was challenging, saying, “it’s not easy trying to keep everyone happy.” Even so, he chose to save Gugu for her positive energy and nominated Jojo, who he felt was distant from the group.
Sipha Lee expressed his gratitude for being in the house and reflected on feeling chosen more for his appearance than his personal story. He shared frustration over feeling undermined during the Head of House challenge but acknowledged Bonni Bee’s capable leadership. He described Sweet Guluva as too laid-back for the Head of House role and became emotional as he explained his nominations of Kay B, citing her treatment of Nsuku, and Mandy Hagan, whom he felt wasn’t contributing much to the house.
Gugu entered the diary room in tears, feeling overwhelmed by the emotional vulnerability required for the wager task. She shared her frustrations with Mata, whom she felt undermined her during the Head of House challenge. Her nominations included Jojo, who she believed lacked strong opinions, and Mata.
Ash-Ley Ogle took a playful approach in her session, likening her time in the house to a holiday. She revealed plans to bring laughter through mischievous pranks, such as freezing poop and hiding items for fun.

Bonni Bee, the season’s first Head of House, embraced her leadership responsibilities, noting that she often had to take charge where Sweet Guluva fell short. She didn’t hold back in her nominations, choosing Gugu for being “a bit stand-offish” and Ash-Ley Ogle for making unnecessary remarks.
Savage shared that he was feeling good despite dealing with a stomach ache. He complimented Sweet Guluva’s leadership and explained his nomination of Ash-Ley Ogle, saying he didn’t feel a connection with her. He also humorously noted his intent to remain a “red flag” in the house.
Melino brought a lighthearted touch to his session, jokingly asking to sit more comfortably in Biggie’s chair. He shared that he felt supported by housemates like Mandy Hagan but expressed feeling disconnected from Muzi-TheMbuzi and Tyrone. Melino nominated Savage and Kay B, citing discomfort with Kay B’s remarks.
Abobo expressed excitement about being in the house but admitted that voting for housemates was a challenging task. He explained that he valued inspiring stories, leading him to vote for Dube and Melino. However, he criticized Bonni Bee for not supporting the group’s decision to bring Dube into the house.
The first diary sessions revealed a compelling blend of drama, emotion, and strategic thinking, setting the stage for an engaging season. With alliances forming and tensions simmering, the Big Brother Mzansi season 5 house is heating up fast. Stay tuned for more twists and turns!
