Nate denies controlling Beekay but former housemates and viewers say otherwise.

The second part of the Big Brother Mzansi Reunion shifted focus to former housemates from Big Brother Mzansi Season 5, dubbed “Umlilo”, as they took their seats on the reunion panel to revisit unresolved house dynamics.

One of the most debated topics on Big Brother Mzansi reunion tonight centred on Nate and her relationship with Beekay. Nate faced accusations from viewers and fellow housemates who believed she had Beekay “in her pocket” and exercised control over him during their time in the house. Nate firmly denied the claims, insisting that what they shared was a genuine friendship built on mutual respect and loyalty.

Explaining how their bond began, Nate recalled meeting Beekay while she was doing dishes in the kitchen. According to her, Beekay approached her out of curiosity, and their conversation quickly turned personal as they discussed relationships and life experiences. Nate said she was struck by how deeply Beekay understood her in just one conversation, something she later shared with Tyrone. From that moment, their friendship naturally grew.

While Nate acknowledged having other friends in the house, including Swiss and Tyrone, she explained that she valued “royalty” and loyalty in her friendships, qualities she felt Beekay embodied more strongly. This, she said, was the foundation of their close bond.

Addressing claims that she was controlling, Nate attributed the perception to her strong personality. She described herself as having dominant and masculine energy, which can sometimes be intimidating. However, she maintained that her relationship with Beekay was balanced and not one sided.

Not everyone agreed with Nate’s assessment. Philile offered a contrasting perspective, stating that from her personal experience in the house, Nate often appeared to control Beekay’s interactions. She claimed that whenever she spent time with Beekay, Nate would call him away or express discomfort. According to Philile, these repeated incidents made her feel unwelcome around Beekay, prompting her to distance herself from him altogether.

Fortunate from Big Brother Mzansi

“Personally I was in the house, I don’t see things the viewers see them. Viewers see things differently and us housemates see things differently. I personally experienced it from Nate, I felt she was controlling Beekay because every time me and him would chill, she would call him to come to her. She was uncomfortable seeing him chilling with me. Every time I would be with him, she would be like ‘Philile, No, you can’t park the car there.’ It made me realize that she doesn’t want me to hand around Beekay so I distanced myself from him. She might not have realised it but I feel she was controlling him. ” Philile said.

Bonni Bee echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that Nate had a strong influence not only over Beekay but over the house as a whole. She claimed that Nate often dictated which topics were prioritised in house discussions, with fellow housemates readily aligning with her views.

Nsuku also supported Philile’s observations, revealing that the issue of Nate controlling Beekay was frequently discussed in the house. She added that Beekay rarely, if ever, said NO to Nate’s requests, reinforcing the perception of control.
