Big Brother Mzansi Reunion: Zee Opens Up on Why She Unfollowed Young Papi
The Big Brother Mzansi Reunion continues to unpack unresolved moments from the house, and in one of the discussions in tonight’s first episode was about Zee and Young Papi’s relationship, both former housemates from Big Brother Mzansi Season 4 (S’ya Mosha).
During their time in the house, Zee and Young Papi sparked mixed reactions among viewers after what appeared to be a growing connection. While some fans supported their bond, many others felt Zee was better suited to Sinaye, whom they believed aligned more closely with her personality. This divided opinion followed the duo even after the show ended.
Addressing the issue at the reunion, Zee revealed that the intense backlash from her supporters played a major role in her decision to unfollow Young Papi on social media. She explained that she was deeply disturbed by the level of attacks directed at him, which at times crossed the line by involving his late mother.
Zee clarified that the decision to unfollow each other was mutual and meant to calm the situation rather than end their communication. According to her, they chose to step away from public interactions on social media and instead communicate privately through calls and text messages.
Reflecting on their relationship, Zee described Young Papi as someone she grew close to in the house. She explained that what they shared was a strong friendship that evolved into something more, although she struggled to define it beyond that bond.
“Young papi was someone I grew close to in the house, we had a good friendship going on that turned into something which I don’t know what to call but it was still solid friendship, ” Zee Said
Young Papi, on his part, dismissed the idea that their connection was ever serious. He revealed that the two had open conversations about their situation and acknowledged that life outside the house would make a relationship difficult. According to him, their closeness was fueled by boredom in the house, which led to playful moments, including kissing, without deeper expectations.

“We actually spoke a lot about this. I told her that I won’t be able to afford her outside the house, so we were having fun because we were bored. Because of the boredom decided to kiss, kissing is good lol…, ” Young Papi said.
When asked why their connection faded after the show, Zee pointed once again to fan pressure. She explained that the criticism intensified outside the house, especially when they briefly followed each other on Instagram, which quickly became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter). Feeling overwhelmed by accusations from her supporters, Zee decided that unfollowing was the simplest way to defuse the situation.

Young Papi admitted that the backlash also affected him, particularly claims that he did not want Zee to win the competition. He firmly denied the allegations, stating that their friendship only grew stronger throughout the Big Brother journey and that he would never sabotage someone he genuinely cared about.
“I was mad because the fans were creating scenarios that I didn’t want Zee to win. In honesty, throughout Big Brother Journey our friendship was getting stronger, there’s no way I could do such a thing , ” he said.
